| Notes | Covers from Hinds Pond to just beyond Ferolle Pt. and from Bonne Bay to Green Bay showing relief by hachures and spot heights in feet. Mr. Thomson's route from Bonne Bay to beyond Ferolle Pt. is indicated both on land and water. Also shows lakes and rivers, geographical names, the Railway, Road to Nicholsville, and Magher's Route Survey for Road, as well as another Road Survey across the peninsula. Accompanies his article: Notes on a Journey through the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland. Geographical Journal, No. XXVI, no. 2, August 1905, p. 189. Article is from p. 187-198 From the article, it appears that the rough map was prepared by Mr. Thomson with the assistance of Matthieu Michel, more generally called Mattie Mitchell, who guided Mr. Thomson on this trip. It is also noted that "Mr. [James P.] Howley, ... very kindly reduced them to scale, and laid them down on an Admiralty chart of the northern peninsula" and that he wrote 'While, of course, it cannot lay claim to any such accuracy as an actual instrumental survey, it nevertheless affords sufficient evidence of approximate reality as to warrant my inserting it (provisionally) on our general map of the island ..."
